Our projects
Community tourism in Mizilo
In Mizilo, local culture and natural resources held strong potential, but opportunities for community‑led tourism were limited. Hitondra worked with residents to document local assets, strengthen skills, and foster dialogue around sustainable tourism. As a result, communities strengthened economic resilience, social cohesion, and ownership, laying the foundation for sustainable, locally driven tourism.
Hitondra Tetikasa Mira
Hitondra worked with local communities in Anjozorobe, Madagascar to promote sustainable livelihoods, environmental protection, and community‑based tourism. Our flagship initiative establishes greenhouse farming centers that provide farmers, especially youth and women, with year‑round, climate‑resilient vegetable production as an alternative to slash‑and‑burn agriculture.

Hitondra chez les Antandroy
Hitondra organised a practical training programme in Itampolo and Ankiririsa to strengthen the skills of local tourism operators in guiding, catering, and accommodation. Through action‑based learning and on‑site practice, participants improved service quality, hygiene standards, communication, and visitor experience. The programme supported sustainable, community‑led tourism by strengthening local livelihoods, confidence, and ownership.
Our community (online or not)
We are building an online community, a shared space where community members, practitioners, volunteers, and partners come together to exchange experiences, strengthen skills, and learn from one another.
This community functions like a club rooted in solidarity and collaboration, where local knowledge is valued, capacities are strengthened, and ideas grow through dialogue. It is a space to connect across locations, support one another’s initiatives, and collectively contribute to inclusive and sustainable change.
